Former LSU basketball player Glen “Big Baby” Davis said that he knew Alton Sterling, the 37-year-old man shot and killed by Baton Rouge police early Tuesday, according to a report.

Davis told that Sterling was a “great guy” with a “big personality.”

“CDs were his way to make income to support his family,” Davis told TMZ, saying that he would sometimes give Sterling CDs to sell. “Not a guy who would use violence at all.”

Davis said that it’s important for people in Baton Rouge “to show love” in the wake of the shooting, which has sparked protests and made national headlines.

“People from the city who have a voice should speak up,” Davis said.
