Baton Rouge native Torrence Welch performed as a soloist with the Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra during a March 12 concert in Decatur, Georgia.
Welch, 35, a resident of Atlanta, graduated from Catholic High School in 1998 and also graduated from Tulane University and Georgia Tech University.
He joined the Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra as principal oboe in 2013 and also serves as solo English Horn for the Georgia Philharmonic orchestra. Welch is a biomedical engineer and works as an engineering consultant and expert witness in the area of injury biomechanics.
He is the son of Carol Welch.
The concert was at the North Decatur Presbyterian Church.
