Looking for something to do that is free and fun this summer? The East Baton Rouge Parish Jones Creek Regional Branch Library has several activities planned to keep you and your children or grandchildren busy. For registration to any of the following events, call the library at (225) 756-1160.
Kids go medieval
Children ages 8 to 11 will learn a little history, make a knight’s helmet and shield and participate in a bubble joust at “You Wouldn’t Want to be a Medieval Knight” with Fiona MacDonald from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday.
The session will be hosted in the Children’s Room. Registration is required and is limited to 20 children; no groups allowed.
New Century Hospice community educator Joan Bourgeois and music minister and chaplain Roxanne Cockerham will present “Hospice Care: Embracing Life” at the library from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Bourgeois and Cockerham will speak about hospice care and the need for volunteers and will answer questions.

Journey into space
Discovery Dome brings “Magic Treehouse Space Mission” to the library’s Children’s Room on Wednesday.
Children will go with Jack and Annie on a journey to discover the secrets of the sun, moon, planets, space travel and more.
The program is recommended for ages 5 to 10. Registration is required in one of four sessions: 3 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 4:30 p.m. or 5:15 p.m. Each showing is limited to 30 children. Call (225) 756-1160.
Learn to draw comics
Professional cartoonist Mike Artell will lead a comics workshop for teens from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thurday, June 18 at the library.
