Amari Bellard, a senior athlete at St. Michael the Archangel High School, signed her national letter of intent to play volleyball at Nicholls State University at a ceremony in the St. Michael library on April 20 with faculty, coaches, students and family members in attendance.

Bellard transferred to St. Michael from Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, during her junior year.

Her Tennessee accolades include Rookie of the Year and Best Passer as a freshman, All-District player as a freshman and again as a sophomore, posting a 98 percent serving accuracy rate.

At St. Michael, she was Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and an All-District and All-State player. She had 25 digs in one game. As a senior, Bellard earned All-District, All-State and All-Metro awards.
