The buy-one-get-one discount will be recognized for all East Baton Rouge Parish ZIP codes beginning with “708,” with the exception of 70818. Residents in the 70818 ZIP code can take advantage of the special on Feb. 20. The offer is valid on recognized City Appreciation Days only and is not valid in combination with any other offer.

Teen poetry lab

Teens who love to write poetry are invited to a program focusing on finding poetry in everyday life at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library. Discuss various forms like blackout poetry, book spine poetry and more. Teen librarian Vita Mitchell will discuss haiku and give everyone a chance to write their own.

Walk with the birds

A member of the Baton Rouge Audubon Society will lead visitors on a morning hike through Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday while identifying various bird species and discussing bird-watching techniques and identification tips.

Canary Islanders to meet

The Canary Islanders Heritage Society of Louisiana will meet at Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library at 11 a.m. Saturday. Society member Carroll Falcon will present his findings on his research into the Brulees.

Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library will be closed Tuesday for Mardi Gras. Regular hours will resume Wednesday.

Time to knit and crochet

Unleash your creativity when Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library’s Knitting Nook and Crochet Corner meet on Feb. 11. All skill levels and left-handers are welcome.

The Knitting Nook meets from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will show adults and teens how to knit projects including scarves, hats, blankets and afghans. Limited supplies are available, so one pair of size 8, 9, 10 or 10½ knitting needles and at least one ball of yarn.

The Crochet Corner meets from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will show how to make hats and scarves. Bring a crochet hook, U.S. size H (5.0 mm) or larger. Yarn will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Swamp bird talks
