The Louisiana National Guard sent one UH-60 Black Hawk to eastern New Orleans Friday to help put out three small hot spots that have rekindled in the Bayou Sauvage area, according to a national guard press release.

At the direction of Gov. Bobby Jindal, the national guard has dropped more than one million gallons of water on the marsh fire since the helicopters were first sent out on Aug. 30.

The LANG is working in cooperation with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), who is coordinating efforts with other state agencies.
