Metro Councilman Ryan Heck said Tuesday he won’t seek re-election in this fall’s election.
Heck, whose district includes the Goodwood area, ran for his seat four years ago as a Republican but recently switched his political party to Libertarian. He said he wants to spend more time with his family and on running his business.
“I’ve enjoyed my time, public service is both rewarding and challenging,” Heck said.
He lost an election in the fall of 2015 for the District 69 seat for the Louisiana Legislature’s House of Representatives.
Heck is the second council member who said he will not run for re-election. Joel Boé has also said that he will not pursue another term on the council.
