As a tribute to her dedication to the arts and arts education, the Runnels Theatre for the Performing Arts at The Runnels School was recently renamed the Gladys Hague Runnels Theatre.

Runnels is a retired preschool and elementary principal, a news release from the school said.

Headmaster Greg Brandao made the formal announcement from the stage of the theater Sept. 28 before a performance of “Guys and Dolls,” the first production of the school year. Brandao presented Runnels with the new sign for the building, which bears her name.

Runnels thanked Brandao and the school community and said how pleased she was to be sharing the honor with her parents, Edna and Jack Hague, who are now deceased but who encouraged and supported her interest in the arts.
