A screening of a special school centennial video, and keynote address from Newton Thomas, founder, owner and CEO of The Newtron Group and alumnus of the class of 1962 were also featured. After ‘Happy Birthday’ by the Middle School Glee Club, the High School’s A Capella Choir concluded the event by singing the ULS alma mater, joined on the second verse by the crowd, young and old. The school opened Sept. 17, 1915, under the name Demonstration High School, under the auspices of what was the LSU Teachers College. Oct. 30 brings the ULS Alumni Homecoming Celebration, and on April 16, 2016, a ‘Black & Gold Bash’ celebration night with alumni bands, activities, memorabilia and more.
