For the second year in a row, digital advertising students from the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication have won the regional round of the National Student Advertising Competition, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, in Johnson City, Tennessee.

The students move on to the semi-finals, where eight schools will be chosen for the finals in Anaheim, California, in June, a news release said.

The team, under advisers Yongick Jeong and Jennifer Macha, competed against schools from Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

During the regional competition, LSU AdFed President Hannah Alkadi, of Baton Rouge, won the Jan Gardner Memorial Scholarship, given to academically talented students in advertising-related disciplines, helping them complete their undergraduate education, the release said.

Ashley Estave, of Central, and Sean Averette, Michael Grob and Jason King, all of Baton Rouge, were among the team members.
