Southern band pays touching tribute to injured player Devon Gales at homecoming game _lowres

In one of its most touching moments of the 2015 football season, Southern University’s Human Jukebox Marching Band paid tribute to Jaguars’ junior wide receiver Devon Gales, who suffered a spinal injury in Southern’s contest against the University of Georgia on Sept. 26 in Athens.

Band videographer Garrett Edgerson captures the moment through his lens as the band spells out “DEVON” on the field, following it with band members presenting a check for $1,500 to Gales’ family on the sideline.

Southern lost 47-42 in a close, hard-fought homecoming game against Prairieview A&M University in A.W. Mumford Stadium, but the Human Jukebox turned in a spirited performance by breaking it down in the second part of its show. And, as always, the Dancing Dolls were perfect in their routine.
