Senior Morgan Evans was named the 2015 Runnels High School homecoming queen Jan. 16 during a presentation of the homecoming court in the Gladys Hague Runnels Theatre.
Last year’s queen Kourtney Khalid-Abasi, now a freshman at Hill College in Texas, presented the crown to Evans. Escorting the newly elected queen was senior Mohammad Pirzadah, a news release from the school said.
Also on the 2015 Homecoming Court were senior maids Alyssa Campbell, Sarah Lukinovich and Kara Peneguy; junior maids Anna Daigle and Elle Pickrell; sophomore maids Julia Sanders and Taylor Schoen; and freshman maids Kaylen Howe and Kaitlyn Roy.
Their escorts were seniors Andrew Hyde, Jordan Johnston and Alex Stansbury; juniors Hayden LeBlanc, Trent Tucker and Mason Warren; and sophomores Paul Lukinovich, Douglas Gulley and Dean Campbell.
During halftime at the homecoming boys varsity basketball game in the Runnels gym, the maids and queen were again presented — this time on the arms of their fathers or other adult male relatives, school officials said.
On the basketball court, the Raiders beat the St. Helena Hawks 78-40, but the Lady Raiders were edged out by their opponent 46-36.
