Reigning Miss LSU USA, Ashley Victoria Barbier, 22, will participate in the upcoming Miss Louisiana USA pageant in October.
The Miss Louisiana USA pageant will be held Oct. 23-24 at the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster.
Barbier, of Donaldsonville, graduated from LSU in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. After winning Miss LSU, she decided to take a year off before attending grad school to gain work experience and to be available to represent her university.
Barbier was offered an internship at Celtic Media Centre in Baton Rouge, where she now works. She also has been offered roles in local movies and also works as a “party princess” for events.
During the Miss USA weekend in Baton Rouge, Barbier was chosen to model in a Jovani Fashion show held at the Belle of Baton Rouge Atrium. Her mother, Donna Latino Barbier, sent her Miss LSU headshot to Jovani “It Girl” on Instagram to get a printed business card as a memory of the event. Barbier and her mom were able to meet Abraham Maslavi, owner of Jovani Fashions.
During the next week, Barbier was chosen from thousands of girls as one of 25 to model at the Atlanta Market for the Jovani “It Girl” competition.
She was flown to Atlanta for an all-expense-paid weeklong trip where she was able to meet designers and model in shows for Jovani.
Of the 25 models, Barbier was selected as one of 12 to go on to New York Fashion Week for the “It Girl” competition. She will fly to New York in mid-September, where she will model in shows for Jovani. From there, Jovani will name a winner, who will be an ambassador for the brand for an entire year.
Ashley is the daughter of Donna Latino Barbier, of Donaldsonville, and Brent Barbier, of Plaquemine. Her grandparents are Dickie and Derley Barbier, of Bayou Pigeon, and Joseph A. Latino Sr. and the late Mary Alice Jennings Latino, of Donaldsonville.
