A 21-year-old Baton Rouge man is awaiting sentencing Sept. 14 following his conviction this week in the 2012 drug-related shooting death of a Denham Springs woman.
Covonta Magee was found guilty Thursday of second-degree murder in the Dec. 22, 2012, killing of Clara Seal, 21, in a parking lot on Cristy Drive.
Chelsea Daigle, 23, of Gonzales, also is charged with second-degree murder in the slaying and testified against Magee. She is expected to plead guilty next week to armed robbery in the case.
Daigle and Seal, according to Baton Rouge police, showed up together on Cristy Drive and got into another car, where Magee shot Seal and stole cash Seal brought for drugs.
Magee faces a mandatory penalty of life in prison when state District Judge Trudy White sentences him.
