Firefighters with the St. George Fire Department are escorting Santa around the area starting Saturday.
The annual Santa parades feature Santa atop a St. George fire engine, followed by vehicles collecting food for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and toys and donations for the Christmas for Challenged Children, a faith-based group that helps make Christmas merrier for children facing chronic or life-threatening medical issues.
Residents in the St. George Fire Protection District are asked to have donations bagged and ready by the door “so when you hear the truck coming down your street you can hand it to the appropriate volunteer,” a news release from the department said.
For information about where Santa will visit Saturday and Sunday, visit StGeorgeFire.com or visit the department on Facebook.
“Unfortunately, since Santa and his sleigh drivers are on-duty firefighters, who may have to leave the parade route to respond to emergency calls, we cannot break the parade route down in any more detail than to identify the weekend they will be in a given subdivision,” the release said.
