phil hoose talk: 7 p.m., Louisiana State Archive, 3851 Essen Lane. Phil Hoose, a conservancy staffer and author, will discuss his new book, “Moonbird: A Year on the Wind With the Great Survivor B95.” B95 is the oldest red knot on record. A red knot is a bird that travels thousands of miles during migration, flying from the bottom of the world to the top. The Washington Post recently named Hoose’s book one of the best books of 2012, and the Young Adult Library Services Association selected the book as one of the finalists for its 2013 YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults.
