Paramedics on Tuesday night extricated and brought one person to a north shore hospital following a fiery, two-vehicle accident near Covington.

The crash happened about 8:35 p.m. near Louisiana 25 and M P Planche Road just north of Covington, according to a news release from St. Tammany Fire Protection District 12.

Good Samaritans with fire extinguishers tried to put out the fire until firefighters arrived about six minutes later.

The extricated person was removed from one of the vehicles within about 10 minutes.

There were five people between the two vehicles involved in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The condition of the person brought to St. Tammany Parish Hospital was not immediately available.
