Drivers using Highland Road on Sunday can expect some delays as large trucks are used to remove storm debris along the two-lane road, city-parish Department of Public Works officials said.

An April 27 storm caused more damage and left more debris in its wake than expected, and city-parish officials have been struggling to get it all picked up and removed.

While flaggers will be directing traffic around the trucks and work crews picking up debris, DPW is urging people to use alternate routes to Highland Road on Sunday if possible.

DPW said crews will be working along the entire route of Highland Road, from LSU south.
