The New Orleans Recreation Department Commission has announced a lineup of festivals, plus art workshops, a bike workshop and more this summer.

GERT TOWN FESTIVAL

The Gert Town Community Family Fest will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Norwood Thompson Park, 7200 Forshey St. There will be a second-line led by Da Truth Brass Band, music by DJ Captain Charles, church choir performances, free food, music, games, activities and a 3-on-3 teen basketball tournament. ST. ROCH FESTIVAL

BICYCLE WORKSHOP

TAYLOR PARK FESTIVAL

The Taylor Community Family Fest will take place from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 28 at Taylor Park, 2600 S. ART WORKSHOPS

Free community art workshops for all ages will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14 and 21 at the Treme Recreation Center, 900 N. Villere St., New Orleans. The phone number for the Treme Recreation Center is (504) 658-3160.

Workshops will also be held on July 12, 19 and 26 and Aug. 2.

Participants will learn about painting, drawing, mural design and the history and culture of Treme, and will contribute to a work of public art that will be installed at the Treme Recreation Center. The program is presented in partnership with the Arts Council of New Orleans.

YOUTH ART CLASSES

For children in kindergarten though eighth grade, artists Jamar Pierre and Ivan B. Watkins will offer free intermediate and advanced art classes from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through August at the Treme Recreation Center. FREE PIANO LESSONS

The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission will offer free piano lessons for children ages 6 and older at recreation centers across the city. The summer session will run from June 16 through Aug. 8, with the following registration events:
