Zachary native named to NSU Homecoming Court _lowres

Bria Williams, of Zachary, reigned as queen of the 2014 Northwestern State University Homecoming Honor Court.

Williams and homecoming king Kaymin Carter, of Shreveport, were part of a 22-member honor court that participated in activities during Homecoming Week at Northwestern State and was presented Saturday at halftime of the homecoming game against Incarnate Word.

Other area court members included Trevor McCray and Courtney Wilson, of Baton Rouge, and Tyra Morrison, of St. Francisville.

Williams is a junior liberal arts/psychology major in the Louisiana Scholars’ College. A member of Purple Jackets and Blue Key, Williams is in the Student Government Association and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Helping Hands, the African American Caucus and the NAACP.

She is a freshman orientation leader and a Scholars’ Ambassador as well as the recipient of a Scholars’ College Award Scholarship. She graduated from Zachary High School in 2012 and is the daughter of Darian Williams, of Zachary.

Carter is a junior biology major, member of the NSU track and field team, Tri Beta Honor Society, Blue Key and is active in the Student Activities Board.

He was also named Student Athlete of the Month in July. He is the son of Crystal and LaMark Carter.
