The city-parish’s contractors will not collect garbage, trash or recyclables on Friday for Christmas. The makeup day for residents whose pickup day is normally on Friday will be on Saturday.

All city-parish governmental offices in East Baton Rouge will be closed on Christmas Day as well.

State, local and city courts will be closed both on Thursday for Christmas Eve and on Friday. They include 19th Judicial District Court, the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s Office, U.S. District Court and Baton Rouge City Court. The City Court Clerk’s Office will be open on Christmas Eve but will be closed on Christmas Day.

The Capital Area Transit System will stop running buses at 8 p.m. Thursday. CATS will be closed on Christmas Day, and shuttles will go back to normal service on Saturday.

All East Baton Rouge Parish library locations will be closed all day Thursday and Friday.

BREC administrative offices will close Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. All golf courses, recreation centers, tennis centers, the Baton Rouge Zoo, the Bluebonnet Swamp and Nature Center, the Cohn Arboretum, the Magnolia Mound Plantation, the Highland Road Observatory, the Baton Rogue Gallery, the Independence Park Theatre and the Farr Park Equestrian Center will be closed Christmas Day.
