The Central Sports Park, 10501 Lovett Road, in the city of Central was officially completed Friday.
BREC officials, government leaders and community supporters held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m., followed by an Easter egg hunt.
The 50-acre park cost about $5 million and contains lighted softball and baseball fields, a concessions building with restrooms, multiuse fields, sidewalks, a children’s playground, a fishing lake and paved parking spaces.
The completion of the park coincides with the start of a youth program offering summer sports programs for more than 1,000 children in the Central community.
The Central Sports Park has two entrances and can be accessed from Hooper Road, just east of the Lovett Road connection, or from Lovett Road, south of the Hooper Road intersection.
