Mark and Laure Starring hosted a Jazz Festival bash that flowed from inside to the outdoor pool of their Uptown home. James Andrews and the Crescent City Allstars kept the music hot and swinging, and there were Mardi Gras Indians and Baby Dolls to lead the celebration. Chef Dave Russo — who started at Galatoire’s, went to Emeril’s and now owns Russo’s in Hudson, Ohio — hasn’t missed a Jazz Fest in 32 years. He cooked up chicken etouffee and jambalaya with tasso, andouille, lump crabmeat and crawfish, all gluten free. The Starrings are tight buddies with the Andrews family, including Trombone Shorty Andrews ... but you knew that.
