The BREC Coaches Challenge will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Olympia Stadium, 7211 Perkins Road. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

High school coaches and teams representing their schools will battle in a fun, friendly field-day competition, including tug of war, a wheelbarrow race and an obstacle course.

CASA training

The next Capital Area CASA Association court-appointed special advocate volunteer training course of 2015 begins Sept. 8.

Orientation sessions last 45 minutes and will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 15 and Sept. 19; noon Aug. 31, Sept. 4 and Sept. 30; 3 p.m. Aug. 27; and 5 p.m. Aug. 18 and Sept. 22.

CASA volunteers help abused children reach safe, permanent homes. No special background is required to become a volunteer. All volunteers must attend orientation and go through a screening process prior to training.

Rock your locker

Teens can beat the back-to-school blues by creating personalized locker items like magnets and picture frames from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The group will gather in meeting room 1 at the Carver Branch Library, 720 Terrace St.

Telescope training class

A brief presentation on how to use and care for a telescope will be given from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in study room 2E of the Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd. After attending the class, participants will be able to check out the telescope.

Learn to budget with Mint

Learn to use the free online budgeting service from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday in the meeting room at the Eden Park Branch Library, 5131 Greenwell Springs Road. Adults will learn how to set up a free account with Mint and how to get their budgeting started.

Monday Movie Series

The River Center Branch Library will show the movie “Into the Woods” for adults at 1 p.m. Monday. Fairy tales collide in this film adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical starring Meryl Streep. Popcorn will be served. The film will be shown in the fourth-floor auditorium of the library, 120 St. Louis St.
