Get ready to rock your socks off with the Sock Rockerz, a band from Nashville, Tennessee.

The hourlong live concerts are suitable for kids ages 3 to 11. Performances feature a DJ booth, current pop song covers, classic kids’ songs, audience participation, comedy, magic and full-sized animal characters.

Shows are at 10 a.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Main Library and 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eden Park Branch Library.

Movie on the Plaza

“Minions” (PG) is the free Movie on the Plaza at 7 p.m. Friday at the Main Library.

Families are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to view the film on the big screen in the outdoor plaza.

Refreshments will be available for purchase, and free punch will be served. The movie will be simulcast in the library’s large meeting room for those in need of air conditioning.

Book talks

The Main Library will host two book talks on Saturday.

Yulanda Coring will present her new book, “God’s Chosen: Book 1,” from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in conference room B. She also will sign books.

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Seketa M. Woods will present her new book, “A Collection of Sermons,” in large conference room 102.

Murder mystery party

A murder mystery party for teens begins at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Main Library’s Teen Room. Costumes are encouraged.

Play a VIP rocker or rapper at the Swagga Music Television annual VIP party and catch the murderer after a fellow star is slain.

Father’s Day is on its way

River Center Branch Library invites children ages 3 to 11 to stop in and make a Father’s Day card from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through June 18.

Board games tournament

Teens can test their skills, logic and wits in a board games tournament at Carver Branch Library.

Game play is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and June 16. There will be a different game each day.

Father/daughter dance

Put on your dancing shoes for BREC’s annual father/daughter dance at 6:30 p.m. June 18 in the banquet room at Independence Community Park.

Young ladies of all ages are invited, along with their fathers or favorite gentlemen. The evening includes music, dancing, food, games and photo opportunities.
