Alexander’s Highland Market’s Labor Day Sunday Pop-Up Market will showcase local farmers and food vendors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, a news release said.
Liuzza Farms will sell eggplant, yellow squash, freshly harvested cucumbers and zucchini along with two dozen other vendors sampling dishes, drinks and desserts.
There will be outdoor grilling and face painting for children.
City Gelato, begun in the LSU AgCenter’s Food Incubator in 2013 by chemist Mario Lozanov, will make its pop-up debut. Lozanov will sample and sell a half-dozen of 25 flavors of his handmade gelato. Momma Mia’s Authentic Italian Cookies will showcase its purple and gold tailgate treats.
Pennington Biomedical Research Center dietitians will be on hand to provide nutrition tips to attendants and sample a test-kitchen recipe of quinoa pilaf.
Other vendors include Old Soul Pickles, Ivy’s Pride Tamales, Davis Farm fresh chicken and duck eggs, Tres Bien Que, GrinningJupiter Jammery, Fresina’ Pasta, Mom’s Garden, Cousin Vinny’s Red Sauce, Most Delightful Foods, The Big Squeezy, Kristine Stone Photography, Andy Lynn’s Elderberry Syrup, Truly Scrumptious and more.
