Woman’s Hospital’s recent BUST Breast Cancer bra art fashion show and Woman’s Victory Open golf tournament raised more than $298,000 for its Mobile Mammography Coach, including the purchase of a second coach, a news release said.

The fashion show was held Sept. 24 at L’auberge Hotel & Casino, and the golf tournament was held Oct. 12 at Country Club of Louisiana.

The coach provides on-site mammograms to underserved women throughout a 15-parish area, visiting churches, workplaces, grocery stores and community centers, the release said.

The addition of a second coach will allow Women’s Hospital to extend services to 21 parishes and screen more than 10,000 women each year.

Funds raised at the fashion show and golf tournament also will be used to upgrade the current coach from 2-D mammography to 3-D.

“I would like to express Woman’s most sincere gratitude to our sponsors, auction donors, artists, survivors and event attendees whose support will save the lives of women in need in our community,” said Beverly Brooks Thompson, president and chief development officer of Foundation for Woman’s.
