LAKE ARTHUR — Town officials will hire a consultant to help seek a grant for a sewer improvement project.
Mayor Robbie Bertrand said the firm Aucoin and Associates was the lowest of three bidders for the work.
The company will assist the town in making an application for funding through the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant program. The firm will also help administer the grant if it is awarded.
Cost of the sewer project has not yet been determined because it is still being configured.
Bertrand says rainwater infiltrating the piping system is a problem and there is a need for greater capacity to pump sewage to the town’s treatment plant.
