A convicted felon from Baker has been found guilty of illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition, U.S. Attorney Walt Green reported Wednesday.

Larry W. Kelly Jr., 36, was convicted Tuesday night by a Baton Rouge federal jury and now faces at least 15 years in prison, Green said.

“Armed felons pose a threat to our safety and security and will continue to receive our well-deserved attention, particularly armed career criminals, like the defendant in this matter,” Green stated.

Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Jackson will sentence Kelly on July 14.

Baton Rouge police found the gun after a 911 caller reported in April that Kelly was threatening to shoot his father.
