Almost 2,300 power outages were reported in East Baton Rouge Parish Tuesday afternoon, an Entergy official said.
Will Johnson, Entergy spokesman, said outages were scattered across the parish and were often related to brittle tree limbs with ice accumulations falling on the power lines.
In January and February during the previous freezes, there were issues with ice accumulating on the power lines causing outages. But Johnson said Tuesday’s freeze issues were small in comparison.
Power should be restored by 4 p.m. at the latest, Johnson said.
David Latona, a DEMCO spokesman, said there are another 600 outages in their service area, mostly in East Feliciana. But there are also some in the Baton Rouge and Livingston areas.
“It doesn’t seem serious so I don’t anticipate it being too long before its restored,” Latona said.
