Former LSU football coach Les Miles is selling his six-bedroom, 5,500-square-foot mansion in the gated Bocage Lake community for an asking price of $1.8 million — but that doesn't mean he won't have a house in Baton Rouge.

Miles said Friday the family also owns a lot down the street from their house. The lot is listed for sale, too.

If the lot sells, Miles and his wife will invest that money in the house. If the house sells, they will build a house on the vacant lot, he said, adding the family is just consolidating.

"We're going to have a residence in Baton Rouge," Miles said. "We will always have a residence in Baton Rouge."

LSU fired Miles Sept. 25, ending a 12-year run that included a national championship. At the time, LSU had just lost its second game to fall to 2-2 and out of The Associated Press Top 25.

Miles and his family bought the home, just minutes away from Tiger Stadium, for $1.1 million in 2005, according to records at the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court's Office.

Miles didn't respond to whether he's close to getting a new coaching address. Just last week, Miles added Athletes First's Trace Armstrong, one of the most powerful sports agents, to represent him in the search for a new coaching gig. Armstrong's clients include Ohio State's Urban Meyer, Notre Dame's Brian Kelly, Houston’s Tom Herman and Penn State's James Franklin.

Athletes First referred inquiries to Mark Humenik, general counsel and vice president. Humenik could not be reached for comment Friday.

Miles' real estate listings are being handled by Burns & Co. Inc., Realtors.

The Multiple Listing Service describes the home as "beautiful" and "comfortably elegant." The house has 6.5 baths; a gourmet kitchen with a slab granite island and countertops, double ovens, a gas cooktop, and a warming drawer. There is also a "large keeping room" with a fireplace and views of the back yard. The master suite and spa has a large jetted tub, separate shower, double vanities and a private workout room.

The house has an upstairs sitting area and three bedrooms with private bath. There is also a separate living room, office, and a great dining room. In addition, the house has 19 by 24 screened porch equipped with a gas grill, double sink, and slate flooring that overlooks the pool.
