On Wednesday, the Metro Council is expected to consider approval of the low bid for the new Main Library at Independence Park.
The lowest bid came in at $36,770,000 from Milton J. Womack Inc., according to the Metro Council agenda.
The project was estimated to cost $37.6 million.
Construction is expected to last a little less than two years on the three-story, 120,000-square-foot building.
The bids were received Aug. 2, with an approved library budget of $38,219,000, according to a memo Library Director David Farrar sent to the library board.
The new library will nearly double the size of the 65,000-square-foot building housing the current Main Library.
Ten companies bid on the project. The second lowest bid, at $37,629,000, was from W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company.
The highest bid, at $42,705,000, was from Woodrow Wilson Construction Company.
