The National Hurricane Center said the area of low-pressure over the Yucatan peninsula has an 80 percent “formation chance through 48 hours.”

“Tropical storm conditions are possible along portions of the middle and upper Texas coast and the western Louisiana coast Monday night and Tuesday,” the NHC said in a statement Sunday afternoon.

A plot of the various computer guidance models used to forecast tropical systems’ paths shows early indications are that the system could make landfall in southern Texas.
