Ally Simmons Smith, Class of 2001, was honored as the St. Michael the Archangel High School Distinguished Graduate for 2016 at the Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic School Distinguished Graduate Awards dinner at the Renaissance Hotel on Feb. 1.

Smith is the technology coordinator and athletic director at St. Alphonsus Catholic Elementary School. She has served the St. Michael community in the past as the head cheer coach and also helps out during open houses.

“Ally embodies the mission of St. Michael High School by striving to be an example of Catholic education in her everyday life. She has devoted herself to helping develop her students as a committed disciples of Christ. It is my honor and privilege to recognize her as our 2016 Distinguished Graduate,” Principal Ellen Lee said.

Three other St. Michael alumni and one current student also were named Distinguished Graduates from their elementary schools: the Rev. Brad Doyle, Class of 2006; Lacey Sanchez, Class of 2008; Carolyn Trelles, Class of 2013; and senior Susan Verdin.
