A 21-year-old Marine from Baton Rouge was stabbed to death Monday in Twentynine Palms, Calif., according to a report by KESQ News in California.

Dominique Clement was attacked and killed at a residence, the report says. he was stationed at the nearby Twentynine Palms U.S. Marine base.

Clement's mother, Casey Guidry, told KESQ that he was originally from Louisiana, where all his family lived. She described him as artist who was dedicated to helping others and to serving in the Marines. She said Clement was at the base for two and a half years after boot camp.

A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the killing after San Bernardino Sheriff's deputies found him outside the residence armed with a knife, the report said.
