Satsuma jelly and crawfish-decorated cake balls are just two of the locally made seasonal treats in store when Alexander’s Highland Market hosts its first spring Pop-Up Market on Sunday.

In addition, Pennington Biomedical Research Center nutritionists will be on hand to share health tips, talk about current health studies and sample a Lenten recipe from their test kitchen.

The market is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Supporting other small businesses and bringing people together to meet the folks who grow and make their food has been a fundamental part of our business plan since we opened two years ago,” market president Lathan Alexander said. “The Pop-up builds community and benefits everyone.”

Cake Jewels, a local boutique confections business, will have spring-themed sweets, including bunny, carrot and floral decorations.

Other participating businesses include Louisiana Gold honey, Andi Lynn’s Elderberry Syrup, Malco’s Magnificent Salsa, Delightful Palate, Hanley’s Foods, Militello’s, Ivy’s Pride Tamales and Denicola’s.
