NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Hurricane Issac hit one year ago and state health officials are reminding those affected by the storm that a federally funded crisis counseling service remains available.
The service, called Louisiana Spirit, offers counseling and crisis management help in 14 of the 26 presidentially declared disaster areas across the state following Issac.
The Department of Health and Hospitals says Louisiana Spirit is designed to provide short-term support and help individuals return to their pre-disaster level of functioning.
Parishes where the service is available are: Plaquemines, Jefferson, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Mary, Terrebonne, Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington.
Counselors can be contacted by phone at 1-866-310-7977.
