Sacred Heart of Jesus School held its annual tree decorating and sing-along in the school gym on Dec. 4 with Assistant Principal Cecilia Methvin as program emcee.

The program began with an Ugly Sweater Contest and Fashion Show judged by junior high math teacher Ellen Abadie and school mascot Stripes. Contestants and models included Principal Joanie Hutson, art teacher Dorothy Calandro, librarian Lizzie Cossé, prekindergarten teaching assistant Terry Fountain, junior high math teacher Margaret Kling, bookkeeper Missie Ourso and guidance counselor Eris Wiggins. Reigning program queen Amy Pickenheim crowned Hutson the new queen.

Each class performed a musical number: prekindergarten, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”; kindergarten, “There Was a Little Baby”; first grade, “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth”; second grade, “Away in a Manger”; third grade, “Silver Bells”; fourth grade, “Feliz Navidad”; fifth grade, “Little St. Nick”; sixth grade, “Sleigh Ride”; seventh grade, “Mele Kalikimaka”; and eighth grade, “Emmanuel.” The entire student body joined in the finale, “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

Students prepared handmade ornaments and decorated the two school Christmas trees with assistance from Beta Club members Faith Woods, Amelia Cave, Caroline Dazzio, Emily DeMeulenaere, Carlette Dunn, Elise Encalade and Maggie Hurdle.
