International House celebrated Cuban Independence Day, honoring the island nation’s longtime influence on New Orleans. Guests in summer white enjoyed Afro-Cuban rhythms by El Colectivo, dance by Gumbo Salsa and a sidewalk evocative of the Buena Vista Social Club, complete with cigar rollers, vintage cars, rum cocktails and fare by Congreso Cubano. And Cuban-New Orleanians raised a glass and talked of what “Cuba Libre” meant to them.
