Both Runnels School campuses closed Friday after a student received a threatening phone call Thursday night from someone telling the student “something would occur at” school Friday.
The person who made the threatening call to the student later called back and spoke with the student’s parent and said it was a joke, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, but the school closed just in case.
“We cannot at this time assess the credibility of the threat,” a message on the school’s website Friday said. “That will be addressed by law enforcement at all levels, vigorously working as we compose this message.”
No unusual incidents took place on those campuses Friday, but the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the matter, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Casey Rayborn Hicks said Friday evening.
