Former DPW Director David Guillory said after giving it some thought, he’s decided he will not run for mayor-president for East Baton Rouge parish.

Guillory, a Democrat, started openly flirting with the idea of running last month after saying he’d been approached by supporters. He suggested he might run on a campaign targeting Baton Rouge’s traffic congestion problems.

But on Thursday, Guillory said he’s had time to talk with his family and wanted to clear the air to prevent distractions.

“After careful consideration with my family and my 10 month old son, I have decided this is not a good time for me personally to run,” he said. “I’m still very passionate about helping the next mayor with this traffic nightmare.”
