A topic-heavy meeting of the Metro Council was adjourned abruptly Wednesday night after so many council members left their seats that the quorum was lost.
The 12-member council requires at least seven members. Ronnie Edwards and Chandler Loupe were absent from the meeting.
The quorum was lost after Ulysses “Bones” Addison, Scott Wilson, C. Denise Marcelle and Rodney “Smokie” Bourgeois left their seats.
“I have no choice,” said Mayor Pro Tem Mike Walker. “It’s the law.”
The council adjourned minutes into a discussion about a low-bid approval for the disputed $900,000 Galvez Plaza Stage Cover.
The council also had not yet taken up the issue of whether to urge the Library Board to discontinue its plans to rebuild a downtown library.
“We obviously have an attendance problem,” Walker said.
