A corporate propeller plane quickly returned this morning to the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport after the pilot noticed smoke in the cockpit shortly after taking off.
Airport spokesman Jim Caldwell said the pilot returned to the airport and landed the twin engine prop jet with no problems. Mechanics will now scrutinize the plane with airport fire and rescue workers on hand just in case, Caldwell said.
Caldwell said he was unsure what caused the smoke. He said it could have been something as simple as a faulty wire, or something far more serious.
