The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team was named the 2015 United States Police Canine Association Region 10 Champions after a recent competition in Baton Rouge.

The win comes six months after receiving the Top Dog award in the National Trials.

Capt. James Broussard and K-9 Indo received the Top Dog award, as well as winning first place in patrol, agility, article search, box search and scent work in the local Regional Trials held last week.

In October, Broussard and Indo attended the 2014 USPCA trials held in Wilson, North Carolina, where 46 agencies participated with 104 Police K-9 teams, representing 26 Regions from the USPCA and were named the 2014 USPCA National Champions, making them the first-ever Region 10 team to win from Louisiana.

In addition to Broussard’s win, the EBRSO K-9 Team took home the following awards at the trials:

PATROL DOG RESULTS: Cpl. Diana Wales and Enzo, second place criminal apprehension; Cpl. Matthew Hurley and Diezel, second place agility and third place criminal apprehension.

NARCOTICS DETECTION RESULTS: Sgt. Shannon Graham and Mylo, Top Dog Overall, first place narcotics dog, first place indoor search and second place vehicle search; Sgt. Jesse Hale and Jumma, third place overall.
