The BREC Coaches Challenge will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Olympia Stadium, 7211 Perkins Road. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
High school coaches and teams representing their schools will battle in a fun, friendly field-day competition including tug of war, a wheelbarrow race and an obstacle course.

The next Capital Area CASA Association court-appointed special advocate volunteer training course of 2015 begins Sept. 8.
Orientation sessions last 45 minutes and will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 15 and Sept. 19; noon Aug. 31, Sept. 4 and Sept. 30; 3 p.m. Aug. 27; and 5 p.m. Aug. 18 and Sept. 22.
CASA volunteers help abused children reach safe, permanent homes. No special background is required to become a volunteer. All volunteers must attend orientation and go through a screening process prior to training.
Movie matinee for adults
The weekend movie matinee for adults at Jones Creek Regional Branch Library, 6222 Jones Creek Road, is “Up.” Show times are 1 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be provided.
Quilting for a cause
The Kaleidoscope of Quilts 2015 Participation Day will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library.
Adults can come in for quilting demonstrations, to stuff teddy bears for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital and to participate in children’s activities and vote for your favorite quilt, all furnished by the Sassi Strippers Quilt Guild. The guild will have quilting displays throughout the library during August.
Teen movie day
The teen movie matinee “Insurgent,” rated PG-13, will be shown at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library. Refreshments will be served.
Make room for your life
Professional organizer Teresa Taylor will give three presentations at the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library on organizing your belongings.
“Part 1: Organizing Paper” is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. “Part 2: Organizing your Time” is Sept. 19 and “Part 3: Organizing Decorations and Collections” is Oct. 17.

Lorretta DuPlantis will relate Biblical stories with her cooking demonstrations in “Feeding Your Body, Heart and Soul” from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the library. The audience will have the chance to sample the food after the presentation.
