A 51-year-old Baton Rouge man’s second manslaughter conviction has netted him a 40-year prison term.

Leroy Woods was dealt that sentence Thursday by state District Judge Tony Marabella.

Woods was convicted last September of clubbing Joseph Beathley, 62, to death with a bottle of gin during an argument in 2012 on North Acadian Thruway East.

Woods also was found guilty in 1991 of manslaughter in the Feb. 3, 1991, shooting death of Milton Brown, 38, on Gus Young Avenue. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 1992.

Woods was previously convicted of attempted manslaughter in 1983.
