A middle school teacher in East Feliciana Parish has been arrested after a parent approached police about “inappropriate” texts with her daughter, the Clinton Police chief said Wednesday.

Louis Neyland Smith Jr., 33, 8049 E. Muscadine Lane, St. Francisville, was arrested Wednesday on one count each of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, indecent behavior with a juvenile and prohibited sexual contact between educator and student, said Chief Fred Dunn.

He could not comment on the girl’s age but said Smith taught eighth grade at East Feliciana Middle School.

Officers have reviewed texts from the past week and are investigating whether other youths may have been victimized, Dunn said.
