Zachary’s Firestoppers, the fire safety clowns from the Zachary Fire Department, are on a monthlong tour of area schools and churches, visiting children in prekindergarten through fifth grade during October’s Fire Prevention Month.

The Firestoppers visited Rollins Place Elementary Oct. 10, promoting the message “smoke alarms save lives” to first-graders.

The Firestoppers clowns are Capt. Ronald Hives as “Pyro,” Capt. Tommy Sims as “Axe” and Firefighter Danny Reifer as “Flash.”

“They performed an unforgettable demonstration that the children couldn’t get enough of,” said ZFD spokesperson Karen Burdette. “We appreciate their time and effort teaching children in the community about fire prevention and safety.”

The Firestoppers will perform Oct. 20 at Galilee Baptist Church, Oct. 22 at Zachary Christian Academy, Oct. 24 at Northwestern Elementary and Oct. 29 at St. Patrick’s Day School.
