We’re excited that the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, a crown jewel for this community, has an opportunity to serve more patrons with the opening of the new Fairwood Branch Library at 12910 Old Hammond Highway. The branch’s hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The new branch boasts 24,476 books, 4,190 new audiovisual items and 50 new computers. The $5.4 million new branch means that the library now has 13 branches in addition to its main library. A new main library is scheduled to open by the end of the year.
We welcome this new opportunity to promote literacy in Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge residents enjoy convenient library service, and the new Fairwood branch should advance library service even more.
We encourage residents to check out the new branch.
