The East Baton Rouge Parish Recreation and Park Commission has called a special meeting for 8 a.m. Friday at BREC headquarters, 6201 Florida Blvd., to discuss further narrowing the list of candidates for the agency’s top job, BREC Chairman Bill Benedetto said.
The board discussed the qualifications of the six finalists behind closed doors for more than 90 minutes Wednesday after finishing the last interview at 9:30 p.m.
The six finalists are: Rusty Freeman Bahr, of Wyomissing, Pa.; Stuart Johnson, Lafayette; Jerry Smith, San Antonio; E. Jay Ellington, Montlcair, Va.; Carolyn McKnight-Bray, Dallas; and Ted Jack, Baton Rouge.
Benedetto said Friday’s meeting, which may or may not be held in executive session, is to give BREC board members a chance to consider further narrowing the field.
He said it is possible those who make the short list could be invited back for a second interview, depending on what the commission wants to do.
Benedetto said commissioners still hope to select a replacement for outgoing BREC Superintendent Bill Palmer at its meeting on Thursday.
“We’ve got some good candidates,” Benedetto said. “It’s just a matter for the commission to come up and make a decision.”
